"Japan and the world", one of the subjects of the Examination for Japanese University Admission, is made to see if a student has the basic knowledge of Japan and the ability to think logically about the subjects and problems of the today's world. In class, we study the basics of politics, economics, geography, history, and improve the ability to get higher scores on the Exam by solving questions from the past tests. In addition, we sometimes have a discussion for improving Japanese ability and understanding Japan more deeply.
At an entrance examination, universities in Japan tend to examine the ability of English. Most of national / public universities in the metropolitan area and some of famous private universities require applicants to submit TOEFL or TOEIC scores. Moreover, most of private universities have an original English examination. Therefore, English lessons at Meros start from the review of grammar from a high school level, and after that, we help the students to improve on how to use English effectively on the entrance examination by solving questions from the past tests. In addition, we have lessons for TOEFL like listening, writing if necessary.
In Japan, most of the national/private universities require applicants to take "Mathematics 1" of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students. On the other hand, it is necessary for the students aiming to major in science to take "Mathematics 2". Therefore, Meros has established a mathematics class to prepare for both of them. Similar to our English course, we practice through using tests from previous years.
※It is also possible to offer the science (biology/Chemistry/Physics)lessons if needed.
In these courses, students can mainly study for the Japanese Proficiency Test, but also will practice conversation, writing, etc. The Japanese Proficiency Test is held every July and December, and the curriculum is made up so that students can improve their vocabulary, grammar, reading, listening and Kanji through using pass exams and drill exercises. On the other hand, conversation practice is not only for s short period of time but there is also discussion and writing time to improve useful Japanese skills. Therefore, these courses are best for students who have a plan to work using Japanese and aimed towards post graduates.
At "Class for general conversation", besides general conversation, it is also possible to learn the honorific Japanese verb forms which is often used at work etc. In class, we not only practice speaking, but also on various things such as culture, grammar, and vocabulary often used in daily life. These can be learned so that students can use more appropriate words and phrases on the spot.
At "Class for business conversation ", besides Japanese and business conversation, students can also build up the abilities and skills needed when finding a job or during work such as business manners, how to make documents using a computer, preparations for finding a job, Japan and world affairs, preparations for BUSINESS JAPANESE PROFICIENCY TEST, and so on.
