Information about Ikebukuro

Ikebukuro is along Yamanote Line which is the main transportation in 23 district of Tokyo (the center of Tokyo). Moreover there are many lines such as Saikyou Line, Seibu Ikebukuro Line, Toubu Toujou Line, Marunouchi Line and Yurakuchou Line besides Yamanote Line. Therefore transportation is abundant and very convenient.

The business buildings, the commercial establishments such as Sunshine City, more than one department store, are concentrated around the station. Public facilities, cultural facilities such as Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space, public parks such as Nishiguchi Plaza are provided. In addition, to the place left a little from the station, there are quiet residential areas, educational facilities, parks etc. That is why it is a suitable environment for study.

What kind of place Ikebukuro is?

It is often heard "I know about the places like Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku, Akihabara and Ginza, but about Ikebukuro…."　Therefore, we have interviewed our students about Ikebukuro. The popular answers for each question are below;

　1. How about the access to Ikebukuro?

• It is very convenient because of massive traffic network such as trains and buses.
• We can use not only JR lines but also private railways so that we can feel Saitama pref. very near. Therefore, we can seek for our rooms with cheep rent.
• We can choose cheap way to go Ikebukuro from Narita Airport that makes our transfer easy such as Keihin Electric Express Railway (Keikyu line) or limousine buses.

　2. What kind of shops and restaurants are there in Ikebukuro?

• The best recommendation is Sunshine City! We can buy whatever we want on the cheap. There are also cheap shops such as 100en, 300en and 1,000en shops. We can play and eat there, too.
• There are many shops of character goods such as Sanrio and Disney and those shops are very attractive for the people who love characters.
• Ikebukuro is called the second Akihabara because of numerous shops of animation. And there are also many shops of electric appliance.
• There are many restaurants where we can eat as much as we like for certain price, and very famous restaurants for Chinese noodle.

　3. Where is the place you recommend?

• There are very special aquarium in Sunshine City located 40m above ground and that aquarium shows us whole ecosystem in the water. There are also observatory in the building from where we can see whole city of Tokyo.

　4. How do you express Ikebukuro in a word?

• The city of general present set.
• The city always busy and shines.
• The city of convenient.
• The city where put Shinjuku and Harajuku together.
